John Adler, Ph.D.

John M. Adler, Ph.D. has been a licensed psychologist since 1985. He was previously licensed in New York and Connecticut between 1985 and 2000; he has been licensed in South Carolina since 1995 and Georgia since 1996. He obtained a B.A. in English from New York University in 1969, an M.A. (1978) and Ph.D. (1984) in Clinical Psychology from City University of New York, and he completed a Clinical Internship at the New York Veteran's Administration Hospital. Dr. Adler completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship in Biological Psychiatry at New York University Medical Center in 1986. He served as the Director of Crisis Intervention Services at New Milford Hospital in New Milford, CT from 1986 to 1996, as well as a Senior Psychologist at Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, New York. He has been in full-time private practice on Hilton Head, South Carolina since 1996 and more recently at Coastal Psychology in Savannah, Georgia. He holds clinical privileges at Hilton Head Hospital. Dr. Adler is certified by The American Psychological Association in the treatment of Substance Abuse. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Georgia Psychological Association, the South Carolina Psychological Association, and the Coastal Association of Psychologists.

Dr. Adler specializes in diagnostic and substance abuse assessment, including neuropsychological evaluations, as well as psychotherapy for adults and their families. He has been married 15 years and has two children. His wife is the co-director at the Savannah Jewish Educational Alliance (JEA).
