Kristen L. Coln, Ph. D. is a licensed psychologist at Coastal Psychology. Dr. Coln received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Mississippi. She attended graduate school at The University of Southern Mississippi where she obtained both a master’s degree and doctorate degree in clinical psychology. Dr. Coln completed an APA-accredited internship through the child psychology track within the University of Alabama-Birmingham Clinical Psychology Internship Program. Following her internship, Dr. Coln completed a post-doctoral residency with Keystone Behavioral Pediatrics in Jacksonville, Florida, specializing in the assessment and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder and a range of developmental disabilities. Dr. Coln’s primary research interests include understanding how demographic and family (e.g., marital conflict, conflict resolution strategies, maternal depression) characteristics influence the relationship between parenting practices and the development of child internalizing (e.g., symptoms of depression and anxiety) and externalizing (e.g., aggression and rule-breaking) behaviors. Regarding clinical interests, Dr. Coln conducts comprehensive psychological evaluations for children and adolescents. These assessments include the evaluation of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), developmental delays, learning disorders, intellectual disabilities, and a range of emotional and behavioral concerns. Dr. Coln also provides individual, group, parent, and family therapeutic services for children and adolescents diagnosed with behavioral difficulties, anxiety, depression, ADHD, history of trauma, autism spectrum disorder, social skills delays, and developmental delays and disabilities. Dr. Coln is currently accepting new child and adolescent assessment and therapy patients.
